PocketMoni

MoneyGram, an international money transfer company, is partnering with eTranzact’s PocketMoni to allow accessibility to Nigerian mobile users all over the world. This will allow users of PocketMoni to receive money internationally. PocketMoni – which works on all GSM networks – would enable customers carry out their transactions with ease, without having to face the “often touted inconvenience” of funds transfer. The Regional Director for North West Africa MoneyGram International, Mr. Francois Peyretsaid, said, “With about 100 million mobile lines for a population of 150 million, Nigerians will benefit from this when they totally embrace the cashless initiative.” To subscribe to PocketMoni,
  • Ensure you have a functional mobile phone and a duly registered SIM card
  • Then text “Reg First name surname” e.g. “Reg john obi” to the short code 20220
  • This automatically registers you on PocketMoni platform and creates a wallet for you (at this point your phone number becomes your wallet/ mobile money account number)
  • Wait to receive an SMS ‐system generated default PIN/PocketMoni setup instruction
  • Follow the guide to complete the user setup on your phone and begin to transact.
