Deadlines are appointments we need to keep, whether we set them for ourselves or another sets them for us. Having deadlines should keep you focused and poised for victory. However, it has been proven to put the unprepared under pressure to meet up or keep a promise.
Deadlines should be set based on well-thought out strategies with the end in view. To achieve this, gather every ingredient comprising of human and other resources that will cook that project together – like a pot of soup (yummy!), in the right quantity, in an enabling or challenging environment and get to work.
In between asking for feedback, remember to follow up on individual task to see if it meets the set timeline, lookout for possible snags and motivate the weary.
Having done all you can and it seems you might not meet it, request for an extension but the reasons should be worth your request.
How are your appointments coming up?
