People lament bitterly after failing at one endeavor or another. They blame failure on many things including inanimate objects. Although it is normal for human beings to want to shift the blame and deny responsibility for their actions, the fact still remains that the main reason for failure can usually be traced back to the individual. There are several things that interfere with reaching or achieving a goal, some of them can be avoided while others cannot. With determination, there is nothing a human being is not capable of even though failures occur as a result of many factors including mistakes and incompetency, the most common reasons for failure are:
- Procrastination: If you can do it now, why postpone it until tomorrow? Procrastination is undoubtedly the leading cause of failure because things not done in time tend to become more complicated and less valued. Time lost can never be regained and this is why the right things should be done at the right time.
- Laziness: No one has ever achieved anything by doing nothing. Getting what you want involves getting up and taking the corresponding actions. In order to avoid failure, one has to work hard to reach the required goal. Laziness takes you nowhere.
- Little determination: Nothing propels people to do work than a strong determination and will for success. You have to believe strongly in what you are doing to avoid laxity and failure. Once the mindset is sure and strong, no task is impossible.
- Poor time management: One has to be able to do the required work within the stipulated amount of time so that they do not pile up and become insurmountable. Wasting time will not get the work done. Planning a schedule and adhering strictly to it will take you a step further in achieving your aim and avoiding success.
- The give–up syndrome: People who give up too easily usually fail even before they begin. Success demands sacrifice as it is only the patient dog that eats the fattest bone. The ability to be able to go on when others have given up is what makes successful people who they are. The rest who fall by the wayside are the failures, it is up to you to decide which group you want to belong to.
There are some situations that are out of human control, but this does not mean we should not try our best to excel regardless of the challenges and difficulties faced. Failure can be avoided by anyone once with the right mindset and will.
