If you’re struggling with the end of the year blues, here are 5 tips to help you end 2020 well and say a huge welcome to 2021.
Reflect
“An unexamined life is not worth living.” – Socrates Self-reflection is a powerful way to live life and ensure we’re on the right track. Take stock of past events and choices that have led to your present circumstances. Was there anything you could have done better? Is there anything that worked for you that you would want to try again? When you have an understanding of how the past has impacted your life, you’re able to take the right steps towards ensuring a better future.Pat Yourself On The Back
We’re often so used to focusing on our shortcomings that we forget to applaud ourselves for our accomplishments. Perhaps you were able to secure a better job. Or you got a new car. Maybe you started going to the gym or you were able to lose some weight. Take note of your accomplishments and celebrate them. This is a confidence booster and serves as a reminder that you can always achieve more because you’ve done so before.Sign up to the Connect Nigeria daily newsletter
Create A List Of Things You Wish You Could Have Done This Year But Didn’t
Just as it is important to acknowledge our past wins, it is also important to acknowledge our shortcomings. Make a list of all the things you planned to accomplish this year but did not. And then write down what you’re going to do differently next year to accomplish these goals.Show Gratitude
Let’s face it. The year has been a rough one. We’ve had to deal with challenges in our personal lives as well as events that have impacted the world at large. However, it is improbable that we’ve not had some great moments. Showing gratitude for the good things in our lives – no matter how little – helps us notice the abundance of blessings around us. Make a list of all the things you’re grateful for this year. Celebrate them with friends and loved ones let everyone in your life know how lucky you are to have them.Celebrate
The essence of this season is to celebrate, so you might as well do it and do it well! Get on the dance floor and celebrate the new year ahead of you. Be grateful for living through 2020 and welcome all the experiences that will come with 2021. Featured Image Source: Vintage Church NOLAGot a suggestion? Contact us: editor@connectnigeria.com
