Day 2 of the MoC Grand Prix & Relays was just as spectacular as Day 1 with more healthy competitions building up between athletes, thrilling spectators at the Yaba College of Technology Sports Complex.

One of such is the rivalry between MoC’s Jerry Jakpa and Emmanuel Arowolo. In Day 1 both athletes raced to the same time in the men’s 100m race, but Arowolo was declared the winner from a photo-finish. However, in Day 2, Arowolo did not give room for any doubts in the men’s 200m event as he raced to victory in 21.03s, leaving Jakpa in second place with a Personal Best (PB) of 21.13s. Shedrack Akpeki  came in 3rd in 21.19s. In the women’s 200m race, Yinka Ajayi raced to victory in a time of 23.54s, with Mercy Ntia-Obong coming in 2nd place in 23.73s while Glory Nathaniel was 3rd in 24.20s. The men and women’s 200m B Final races were won by Isah Salihu (21.52s) and Blessing Oladoye (24.97s) respectively. In the men’s 400m final, MoC’s Emmanuel Ojeli was the top-dog in the race, racing to a new lifetime best of 47.47s to win the event. Atinaya came in second while Jare Folarin settled for 3rd place in 47.61s. In the women’s 400m final, Ajayi took the win in a time of 52.08s with Rita Ossai coming in 2nd in 54.40s, while MoC’s Ifunanya Moughalu came in 3rd in 54.88s. In the 110m Hurdles, Oyeniyi Abejoye raced to a Season’s Best (SB) of 13.94s to claim the victory. Chimezie Agodu was 2nd with 14.05s, while Peter Moreno came 3rd with 14.38s. In the women’s 100m hurdles, Grace Ayemoba won the race in 13.66s.

Field 

Recently crowned National Junior Champion in the Long Jump, Arinze Benjamin moved from underdog top dog with a stunning Personal Best (PB) of 7.91m. Tobechukwu Nwokocha placed 2nd leaping to a distance of 7.32m, while National Record holder in the Decathlon, Moreno, placed 3rd with a jump of 7.07m. In the women’s category, Precious Okoronkwo claimed the win with a jump of 6.36m, Heptathlete Kemi Francis came in 2nd with a jump 6.03m while, Blessing Ibrahim settled for 3rd with her best jump of 5.73m. In the women’s High Jump final, leapt to a new Personal Best (PB) of 1.82m. Temitope Adesina came in 2nd with a height of 1.65m, while Grace Anigbata was 3rd with 1.65m. Obiora Arinze won the men’s event as he was the only athlete to go above 2.05m. Also, Cyprian Oyedele cleared above 2m to place 2nd, with Olawole Emudaola placing 3rd in a best jump of 1.95m. In the men’s Javelin throw, Mike Eze was the man to beat as he threw a distance of 61.68m to win the event. Kingsley Igbinosun placed 2nd throwing a distance of 59.62m, while Osayande Friday settled for 3rd with 56.47m. In the men’s Triple Jump, David Kingston made a distance of 15.01m with 1.1m/s wind. Kingsley Ayebide came in 2nd place with 14.93m, while Anthony Nwawuhe  settled for 3rd with  distance of 14.65.   Source: MoC Updated: Day 1 & 2 results
