Commenting further, the Minister hailed Anyanacho’s feat of emerging as the first female Taekwondo athlete in the country to qualify for the Olympics in 16 years, and the second woman in Africa’s history to attain such height. On her road to becoming African champion and securing the Olympics ticket, Anyanacho beat Urgence Mouega (former African champion) of Gabon by 12-5 points in the women’s 67kg bout during the Africa Taekwondo Olympics Qualifiers in the Complexe Sportif Moulay Abdellah (Palais des sports), Rabat City, Morocco.
