Following the Super Eagles’ exit from the on-going FIFA World Cup in Brazil, the Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro has singled out the Super Eagles vice-captain as worthy of praise.
Obanikoro said that the Eagles goalie’s performance at the competition was exceptional and wants Nigerians to draw strength from Enyeama’s “can-do-spirit” and join hands to tackle insurgency currently rocking the country.
“The exceptional brilliance of Enyeama speaks volumes of the can-do-sprit of the Nigerian people. There is a lot we can achieve as a nation when we join hands together to fight for a common goal.
“My conviction that we can unite to end Boko Haram remains unflinching” Obanikoro said in a text message sent to PREMIUM TIMES after the Eagles game against France.
Vincent Enyeama was rated as Africa’s best player at the World Cup so far in the latest Castrol Index released by FIFA.
After an outstanding performance in the group stage of the World cup, FIFA ranked the Lille OSC goalkeeper fifth in the 10-man list.
The minister congratulates the entire team for “fighting a good fight and uniting us in a time like this”- referring to the various security challenges faced by Nigeria.
