Ex-Nigeria international, John Obi Mikel, has resumed training with his new Turkish club, Trabzonspor, after successfully completing his medicals. Ghanaian international, Caleb Ekuban, is another new acquisition for the Turkish side, he joined the former Super Eagles captain in training. Both players joined the rest of the squad late due to national team duties at the recently concluded 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
A statement on the official twitter handle of Trabzonspor reads:
Caleb Ekuban and our new transfer Obi Mikel, who are in the national teams of their countries due to the Africa Cup, passed the health check… The players who completed their health checks continued their work at Mehmet Ali Yılmaz Facilities within the special training program applied to them.

Mikel, a UEFA Champions League winner with Chelsea FC of England, penned a two-year deal with the club back in June. He last featured for English Championship side, Middlesbrough FC and was popular among the fans, who tagged him the “African Zidane”. Mikel is set to make his official league debut for the club against Kasimpasa on August 18, the opening day of the 2019/2020 Turkish Super Lig season.
