After an impressive performance for Middlesborough in last Saturday’s 3-2 win against West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns, Mikel Obi’s new boss cannot hide the excitement of having the player in his team.
Mikel has so far made only two appearances for Middlesborough since he signed a short term deal with the English football league club.
Boro’s manager, Tony Pulis, has lauded the superb skills of the Super Eagles skipper ahead of the team’s Emirates FA Cup Fourth Round replay against Newport County on Tuesday at 8:45pm WAT, at the Rodney Parade Stadium.
“He was fantastic. He looked a little bit tired at the end but he’s a great lad. The lads have taken to him,”
“He’s a great character in the dressing room and he’s got the quality you need.”
Middlesborough are currently in 5th place on the FA league table with 50 points from 29 games, behind 4th placed West Brom, 3rd placed Sheff United, 2nd placed Leads United, and table leader, Norwich City.
In their three previous games against Newport across all competitions, Boro has not lost (W2 D1).
