Microsoft unveiled a new operating system on the 2nd of May 2017, the Windows 10S. Windows 10S is an upgrade of Windows 10 but more secure. This new OS comes with the essential Windows Office apps like Word, Excel and PowerPoint pre-installed in it. Microsoft restricts Windows 10S devices to Windows Store apps, meaning one won’t be able to download and install apps from browsers. However, app developers will have to submit their apps to the Windows Store first in order to feature in the Windows 10S operating system. Both Edge and Internet Explorer will allow you change the default search engine in Window 10S rather redirected to Microsoft’s Bing engine with no other way to switch to Google. Through in the old Windows 10, you can surf through the setting to change the search engine. But on the Windows 10S even after you are able to download another browser, Edge will remain the default, if, for example, you open an .htm file. Microsoft is not the pioneer of this policy, Google also locks Chrome as default browser on its Chrome OS, though it allows you to change your default search engines and Apple also locks Safari on iOS. This new OS by Microsoft is a plan to push its Office 365 apps as it will be a full fledge package that comes with the new Windows 10s, while competing with Chromebook in the market.
