The University of Global Health Equity (UGHE), in collaboration with the Mastercard Foundation, is providing 500 comprehensive scholarships to academically gifted young Africans dedicated to revolutionising healthcare across the continent.

Through the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at UGHE, outstanding African students who face financial and social challenges—particularly young women, refugees, displaced individuals, and people with disabilities—can access graduate programs in Global Health Delivery (MGHD) and Health Professions Education (MHPE).
This collaboration between the Mastercard Foundation and UGHE seeks to develop transformative leaders who will promote health equity and create systemic improvements throughout Africa. Beyond financial assistance, the program provides scholars with leadership development, mentorship opportunities, and professional networks to enable them to become agents of change in their communities.

Requirements for Eligibility
Candidates for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at UGHE must meet the following criteria:
- Hold African citizenship, with priority given to women, refugees, displaced individuals, and people with disabilities.
- Possess a Bachelor’s degree in a health-related discipline.
- Be 35 years of age or under when applying (accommodations available for applicants with disabilities).
- Display transformative leadership capabilities and genuine dedication to promoting health equity.
- Provide evidence of community involvement and achievements extending beyond academic performance.
- Demonstrate strong academic performance and preparedness for graduate education.

Scholarship Package
Recipients will receive complete funding that covers:
- Complete tuition coverage, on-campus housing, educational materials and a laptop computer, living allowances, and mentorship and career guidance following graduation.
- This comprehensive support system enables scholars to achieve academic success while developing into leaders focused on enhancing healthcare delivery throughout Africa.
