A team of investors have announced plans to launch two Made-in-Nigeria mobile phones in November 2013. The investors, numbering about 20, comprise the top players at the computer and mobile phones market in Lagos, Nigeria known as the Computer Village. The investors are hoping to give European and Asian mobile phone manufacturers a fierce competition in the Nigerian mobile phone market. Godfrey Iyke Nwosu, President, Phone and Allied Products Dealers Association (PAPDAN), made the announcement at the Technopreneurship Breakfast Meeting convened by Technology Times for business leaders and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). He said that the first two phones to be launched would be called iQ and MaxTel. Nwosu noted that the Nigerian market was in need of phones that are specifically designed with cutting-edge technologies that cater to the tastes of Nigerians.
