Time, they say, heals all wounds and this is also applicable to relationships. Getting over someone that has been part of you for quite some time can be difficult, but you just have to stay strong and face reality. Learning to let go and make peace with things you cannot change is crucial. Here are some tip I feel can help you get over a broken heart.
- Agree that it’s over: This is the first step to take and there’s no point trying to push your way through. Accept this so you can be able to move forward.
- Take your time: Take a break before going into a new relationship. There are a lot of things to be done, like knowing your strengths and working on your weakness. You need time to rediscover yourself. Always remind yourself frequently that healing is not a race.
- Don’t Hate: The fact that things didn’t work out between you two doesn’t make you enemies. Don’t hold a grudge or try to revenge. If you don’t have the emotional strength to stalk them on social media, feel free to unfollow them. Don’t confuse this as being childish, you simply need to readjust and have to go through this phase alone.
- Do something you love: Take your mind off the failed relationship by doing something you love. Listen to music, paint a picture, read books, write, hangout with friends; the fun list is endless.
- Embrace other opportunities: Open up yourself to the possibility that this ending is the beginning of something far better than you’ve ever experienced before.
