Sometimes people get on our nerves and do hurtful things to us. It is completely natural to want revenge and punishment, but this does not always have to be the case. Even when people hurt you, it is easier to choose to forgive them and let go instead of trying to hurt them back. Revenge is like a disease, it eats away at the heart and makes you want to do terrible things. Forgiving, on the other hand, is safer and better for you and the person involved. Choosing to forgive a wrong done to you is not so easy, but it is always better than hurting other people back. Here might be helpful steps to take on your journey to becoming a forgiving person:
- Know your worth: If you are tempted to get even and hurt people back, just remind yourself that you are better than that and you will not stoop so low. Choosing to forgive makes you a better person with a clear conscience instead of a scheming and cunning fellow.
- Mind your health: When you are consumed by a fire of revenge, you tend to ignore your mental health. What is the purpose of being so vengeful if you cannot sleep at night? Realise the fact that some people are not worth losing sleep over. Do not risk your physical or mental health because you want revenge.
- Move on: Our eyes were placed in the front of our head and not at the back because it is more important to look forward than backwards. If you keep dwelling on every little thing, you will not get to where you want. Accept the facts, do not repeat the same mistakes and move on.
- Learn a lesson: You were hurt for a reason, learn that reason and make sure it doesn’t happen again. If you do not get hurt by one thing or the other, how will you learn and acquire experiences? There is no use crying over spilt milk, the most important thing is to forgive but never forget the lesson learnt.
