Many people are going natural with their hair, while that is great, there is no better way to monitor what substance is applied to your hair than by making your hair products yourself. That way you have complete control over what goes into them. Besides, most of the hair styling products are particularly expensive and may cause damage to your hair. Making your hair gel makes it very affordable and very available as it makes use of simple kitchen ingredients.
Method 1:
Materials
¼ tsp of unflavored gelatin (Gelatin is good for your hair as it contains proteins)
½ cup of hot water.
Drops of essential oil (if available)
Procedure:
Mix your gelatin and hot water together in a bowl, stir till the mixture is fully dissolved.
Add few drops of essential oil.
Transfer the mixture to a jar or your styling hair gel container.
Place in the refrigerator for one or two hours allowing it to thicken.
Method 2
Ingredients:
¼ cup of flax seeds
Stove
Water
Saucepan/pot
Wooden spoon
Jar
Essential oil (optional)
Procedure:
Fill a pot with water, then add the flaxseed, soak for 6-8 hours to allow the flax seeds release gel.
Drain out the remaining water.
Heat up the flax seeds by boiling it in a saucepan with 1 cup of water.
Immediately reduce the heat to simmer.
Cook the seeds until you get your desired consistency. As you continue to cook the seeds, they produce a gel.
Try not to allow it burn or stick to the pot.
Strain your gel into a bowl using a fine mesh strainer.
Scrape the seeds against the strainer using a wooden spoon to help press out the excess gel, lift the strainer away.
Throw away anything left in the strainer.
