The Lagos State Government has directed all homeowners in the state, to beautify their houses and its perimeter. This was made known on Tuesday September 11th, by the State Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Tunji Bello, during the inauguration of the Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency at Alausa, Ikeja.
He said: “a violation of this would attract
N250, 000 Fine or the amount the state would incur if it decides to carry out the beautification, or six months imprisonment or other non-custodian sentences, also anyone caught felling trees in the state or trimming them without permission would be fined a minimum of
N50, 000 or sent to one year imprisonment.”
He continued: “It is also an offence to walk on lawns and gardens. Also urinating, defecating in any of the parks, gardens and open spaces; loitering or soliciting for illegal purposes, smoking and dumping refuse among others in the parks are also offences.”
His message was directed at homeowners and at parks and gardens in Lagos. The Lagos Government has invested much in parks & gardens to beautify the state in recent years, and is imploring residents to extend it to their building. The move aside beautification, has environmental and health benefit, we hope that people comply, and for proper oversight, by the government.

Mmmm…i see house rent increasing.
I appreciate the Commissioner of Environ.and the Government of Lagos State for their efforts to make Lagos State a place of habitation i must add that the Local Govt Chairman should follow suit and be monitored espcially on ROADs in Jakande Estates. The nightmere at Isolo Jakande Estate Gate is a sorry state if the homeowners beautify their building and environment and the ROADS are not passable what is the justification LEADERSHIP by example.
