  The Lagos State Government has on Independence Day put Nigeria on the Guinness Book of Records by building Nigeria @60 logo into a cupcake mosaic. A creative feat, yes. The state government through its Ministry of Tourism and Culture and a private firm, Fly Africa partnered up to deliver this record feat.

The mosaic built up of 60,000 cupcakes is now the world record in the category because. The previous record was held by a cupcake mosaic of about 30,400 cakes made in Singapore back in 2015. The event was possible thanks to 150 volunteers who were mostly children and teenagers. The event was held in the main bowl of Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere. The state governor represented by the wife of the deputy governor, Oluremi Hamzat monitored the event which took all afternoon on the 1st of October, 2020.

According to SecurityMonitor, the deputy first lady on behalf of the governor stated that Lagos was demonstrating the creative and innovative vibe that Lagos has to offer as an entity and encouraged everyone to join hands with the government to achieve the set goals of his administration. Fly Africa is a privately-owned airline that has been fully operational since 2012 and flies to at least 10 destinations within Africa.
