We had earlier reported about the Aso Villa Demo Day, a Federal Government initiative created to encourage innovative solutions to various challenges that have great social impact, with the aim to promote entrepreneurship, innovation and foster job creation and economic growth through the use of now and emerging technologies.

The Lagos edition of the event held yesterday 23rd of June 2016 at Landmark Event Center, where many startups and individuals with ideas came to pitch their ideas to a panel of judges. The judges included the likes of Uzoma Dozie of Diamond Bank, Lanre Osibona from The Presidency, Jacquelyn Okafor of Verifone and much more.

The participants were given 4 minutes to totally pitch their ideas and field questions, 2 minutes to pitch the idea and 2 minutes to field questions. Most of the ideas sounded like a recycling of already established systems, though they were quite a few that stood out.

The event continues at Abuja on Saturday, June 25th at Venture Platform, Maitama Abuja and on Wednesday, June 29th, 2016 at a yet to be disclosed location. The grand finale where the successful pitched will present before Mr President is scheduled for July 28th at the State House Conference Center, Abuja.
