Hugo Wallace Weaving was born on the 4th of April, 1960, at the University College Hospital (University of Ibadan Teaching Hospital), in Ibadan, South West Nigeria, to English parents Anne; a tour guide and former teacher, and Wallace Weaving, a seismologist. At the time, Ibadan was the largest city in Nigeria, and second most populous in Africa after Cairo- Egypt. It was also home to the first ever Nigerian university. The actor with a trademark deep and dramatic voice, is best known for his role as the villain Agent Smith in all 3 editions of Matrix.  Here are other notable movies he has also acted in; The Interview, Lord of the Rings (2001, 2002 and 2003) as Elrond, Transformers as voice of Megatron, Captain America; The First Avenger as Johann Schmidt / Red Skull, Hobbit as Elrond. He is a three-time winner of the Australian Film Institute Awards for Best Actor in a Lead Role, and a long list of other awards. The Weaving family left Nigeria for England a year after Hugo’s birth. He was perhaps too young to have fond memories of his country of birth. The family spent most of their time travelling between Nigeria, Great Britain, and Australia during his childhood
