Since 2017 when the movie was first announced, especially following the many teasers, movie goers have eagerly anticipated the premiere of Kemi Adetiba‘s new movie King of Boys. We are glad to bring you all there is to know about the film and its director.
King of Boys
King of Boys has been scheduled for release nationwide on the 26th of October. There will be an exclusive premiere on the 21st of October 2018 for a select few.
The sophomore movie for the director – whose first directorial effort was The Wedding Party – stars Sola Sobowale, Adesua Etomi, Paul Sambo, Toni Tones and veteran actor, Jide Kosoko, to mention a few. Rapper Illbliss and Remilekun “Reminisce” Safaru make their first ever Nollywood appearance.
Synopsis
The movie follows the story of a wealthy businesswoman and philanthropist who, while working towards the actualization of her political ambition, is faced with battling her past and the underworld that made her. She unleashes her ruthless self in the struggle to win and preserve everything that is of importance to her.
About The Director
Kemi Adetiba was a prominent face in the early TV commercials for the popular detergent “Omo” as a child. She joined Rhythm 93.7 FM in the early-2000s as a radio DJ, and later moved to television after hosting for the Soul’d Out and Sunday at the Seaside radio shows, which aired nationwide. Adetiba presented MNET’s Studio 53 and Temptation Nigeria, hosted the Maltina Dance All competition for three years and was also a presenter at SoundCity.
Adetiba studied filmmaking at the famous the New York Film Academy. Some of her works include the short film Across a Bloodied Ocean, which was screened at the National Black Arts Festival and the Pan African Film Festival in 2009. The Wedding Party her first feature film, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
Adetiba was also responsible for the award-winning music videos for TY Bello’s Ekundayo and Omawumi‘s Today na Today.
