Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi has told newsmen that he has compiled a list of Nigeria-born players based in Europe who he will persuade to play for the Super Eagles.
Top of the list is Liverpool’s 17-year old teenage star Jordan Ashley Ibe. “I’ve been told he (Ibe) is a very good prospect with potential to become one of the best wingers in the world. I have not had time to watch him in any of his club’s games but definitely I will do so this season. “I have been informed that there are so many players out there with Nigerian parentage and a few I know myself. We will be looking out for them,” said Keshi Keshi tracked Sidney Sam for months but the winger turned down the advances from Keshi to switch his allegiance to Nigeria and instead made his full debut for the German national team against the United States in May. “Tracking or listing players who are Nigerians but born abroad is one thing while accepting to play for the country is another,” Keshi said. Some of the players eligible for the country include: Reece Wabara – Manchester City Jordan Ibe – Liverpool Sammy/Shola Ameobi – Newcastle United Chuba Akpom/Chuks Aneke – Arsenal Ross Barkley – Everton Hope Akpan – Reading Ikechi Anya – Watford Carl Ikeme – Wolves Kelvin Etuhu – BarnsleyYou might also like:
