Super Eagles’ coach Stephen Keshi has invited 42 players for the World Cup qualifier against Malawi next month.
The coach invited both home-based and foreign stars for the all important game.
The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has, however, asked Keshi to trim down the squad to 33 players. The NFF noted that some of the home-based players needed to be dropped in order to accommodate the foreign based-players.
A total of 18 overseas players have been invited for the game in Calabar and they will be joined by five home-based players for the game that will decide who qualifies for the final round of the 2014 play-offs.
Nosa Igiebor, Real Betis midfielder, and Emmanuel Emenike, Fenerbache striker, are to return to the group for the first time since the Africa Cup of Nations.
Nigeria only needs a draw in the qualifier against Malawi to reach the play-offs that will decide the African representatives at next year’s World Cup. The Malawians are in dire need of a win to progress ahead of the Super Eagles.
Nigeria’s foreign-based players to face Malawi:
