SD Huesca of Spain midfielder, Kelechi Nwakali, has teamed up with the Nigerian national U-23 Eagles as preparations for their 2019 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled to hold in Egypt from 8th to 22nd November 2019, kick off in full gear.
Nwakali was part of the team’s training session on the morning of Thursday, October 24, 2019, under the supervision of the team’s chief coach, Imama Amapakabo, and his assistants at the training pitch of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

Nwakali, the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup winning captain of the Golden Eaglets, played a huge role in the AFCON qualifiers, which saw the Olympic Eagles defeat Libya and Sudan to get the ticket. Nigeria, drawn in Group B, will open their campaign at the 2019 U-23 AFCON against Cote d’Ivoire on November 9, 2019 at the Al Salam Stadium, Cairo. The Dream Team will confront Zambia in the same venue in their second group game on November 12, before rounding up their group stage matches on November 15, against South Africa.
Champions of the tournament, runners up, and the third placed teams will qualify for the 2020 Olympics as Africa’s representatives in the men’s football event at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games in Japan.
