Bride and price are two recurring words we hear as Nigerian women, especially unmarried ones. Growing up, my parents always used to make jokes about how much my bride price would be especially as an incentive to get me to more actively engage in tedious domestics. It was my understanding that the more education, skills, admirable qualities and beauty I had, the higher my bride price would be. Although I didn’t intend on scaring my future husband away with an outrageous bride price, I did want to come across as ‘valuable’.
Two days ago I came across this website that had been circulating social media so I decided to go and have a look at what the buzz was about.
