As this week started on the notes of care and appreciation, Jumia Nigeria, a fast growing online retail store picked up from where Mother’s day left off by camping out on the streets of Ebute Metta and feeding about 1500 less privileged children.
The movement was part of their CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiative and involved about 500 volunteers that included Jumia staff, Gbemi (Beat FM), Dami(Beat FM), Djinee, Weird MC, Shawlz (Classic FM), Lilian Unachukwu, Jeffery Daniel, Tosin Bucknor, Phyno, Ice Prince, Dammy Krane, Eminic, Joseph Benjamin, Toke Makinwa, Tillaman, Godwin& Sabina (Naija FM), Ill Bliss, Koch, Shadow d Don and many more celebrities. The event started with the volunteers meeting up at the crack of dawn to cook up a storm for the kids, and set up the avenue. There was also lots of fun, music, games and more on hand to spice up the day. It was beautiful to see volunteers interacting one on one with the less privileged with an aim to giving them ‘HOPE’ for tomorrow. As part of the joys of the day, Jumia also presented Okobaba Open Field, Ebute Metta venue of the event with a pumping machine to drain their playing field during the rainy season. According to AfamAnyika, Public Relations manager at Jumia, “It is of great honor to introduce such a CSR initiative.” Looks like they had fun doing it. The children look so happy! We hope that more organizations follow in their steps. You might also like:
