Nigerian and NBA Timberwolves rookie, Josh Okogie, showed off his defensive prowess in his NBA Summer League Debut in Las Vegas against Denver Nuggets.
no dulling
The Wolves lost the game 70-69. However, Okogie ‘no carry last’ as he dominated his defensive play proving to his new team that they made the right choice in drafting him.
The 19 year old shooting guard started his first game off on a rather poor note making some bad decisions and overall he could not make good on any of his shots, shooting just 2-of-10 including 1-of-5 from 3. He, however, finished with 10 points because he made it to the free-throw line eight times and made seven rebounds, four assists, three blocks and two steals.
“Offensively, it wasn’t my best game. I was able to get some steals, blocks on the defensive end. And that’s what it’s all about. That’s what coach Thibs is all about…Defense is something I feel like I can always control.”
— Okogie
