The Japanese Government, through its Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has handed to the government 317 classrooms that it built in 33 Primary schools, in 22 Local Government Areas of Kano State. The classrooms come with special facilities, to promote Science and Math Education in the State. The presentation ceremony was held in Abuja, attended by the Minister of State for Education, Nyesom Wike, a representative of the Kano State Governor, and the Japanese Ambassador to Nigeria – Ryuichi Shoji.
The Minister at the ceremony said, “It is another important contribution of JICA towards improving the teaching and learning of mathematics and science subjects across the basic education system in the entire country. Let me also challenge the beneficiary communities to make good use of this opportunity by ensuring that every child of school age is enrolled to attend any public school nearest to them.”
The Japanese Ambassador presented new plans to build classrooms for 5000 pupil in the FCT this year, and the representative of the Governor, Tajudeen Ahmed, promised maintenance of the facilities.
