  Monday, 5th of October, 2020, was an exceptional day for teachers in Ilupeju; To celebrate the World Teachers Day, Inside Out With Agatha Foundation (IOWA Foundation) hosted teachers from ten (10) public schools (both primary and secondary) within Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye LCDA in view of recognizing, celebrating and rewarding teachers who led initiatives during the lockdown to better the academic excellence of their students. This event which was themed “Re-Inventing Teaching Method Post Covid-19” held at the Inside out Studio at the RAVE TV premise at 5, Esther Oshiyemi Street, Ilupeju-Lagos.       Present at the event were; the Chief host and Executive Chairman, Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye, LCDA, Hon. Rasaq Olusola Ajala; representing the Executive Chairman Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB) was the Permanent Board Member, Hon. Sherifat Abiodun Adedoyin, Serial Education Entrepreneur and Director of Leposhe School, RonkePosh Adeniyi, and representing the Executive Chairman Nigerian Union of Teachers was Comrade Adebayo Agbemiga. Agatha Amata, host and founder of Inside Out With Agatha Foundation led the event to an opening with a welcome speech appreciating teachers for their tireless efforts and contribution in moulding future leaders. She urged them to continue to labour for good as their labour of love is being recognized and appreciated. Also speaking at the event was the Chief host and Executive Chairman, Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye, LCDA, Hon. Rasaq Olusola Ajala who gave a keynote address on the theme: Re-inventing Teaching Methods Post COVID-19. He spoke about the efforts of the local government in closing the learning gap through numerous projects in place to support the Lagos state government in equipping the trainers and leaving no child behind. He also expressed his gratitude to IOWA foundation for recognizing the selfless efforts and contributions of teachers in the Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye community. The representative of the Nigerian Union of Teachers, Comrade Adebayo Agbemiga while giving his goodwill message, urged teachers to continue to learn, unlearn, re-learn and position for the digital future. Speaking at the event also was the Permanent Board Member, LASUBEB, Hon. Sherifat Abiodun Adedoyin, who also emphasized the need for teachers to leverage technology in achieving the set goal: Education & Technology. She also shared the milestone attainment of the Lagos State Basic Education Board in training and equipping teachers for the new norm. Serial education entrepreneur, advocate and Director, Leposhe School Ikoyi, RonkePosh Adeniyi switched the conversation up to an interactive session to stir critical thinking, communication and collaboration amongst teachers, these she stated were necessary skills required to compete globally. She, however, urged teachers to change their mindset and attitude towards their profession and embrace technology. The event came to a close with the recognition and awards of the nominated ten (10) teachers from the participating ten (10) public schools within Ilupeju. Kareem Hammed Abiodun, a Social Studies Teacher from Ilupeju Junior Secondary School emerged winner of the IOWA Foundation Teacher Reward Initiative, 2020; with a cash price of NGN 50,000, a laptop, Google Teacher Training Certification, FMN Bumper Packs and Beloxxi Goodie Bags courtesy partners: Flour Mills of Nigeria, Beloxxi Industries Ltd, National Film and Video Censors Board, and Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye local government LCDA. Coming 2nd and 3rd place was Oyekunle Nike Olajumoke, Mathematics Teacher, Ilupeju Senior Grammar School and Ajayi Olubunmi Grace, Mathematics & Social Studies teacher, Ilupeju Primary School who have also rewarded laptops, Google Teacher Training Certification, FMN Bumper Packs, and Beloxxi Goodie bags. The same goes for other awardees.
