The Nigeria Football Federation is still on the lookout for a new technical crew.
Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles, will square off against the El Tri of Mexico in an international friendly football match scheduled to hold on May 28, 2022, at the AT & T Stadium, Arlington, Texas, USA. An official statement on the social media accounts of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed the latest development following Nigeria’s failure to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
While Mexico will use the match to prepare for the World Cup, Nigeria will be hoping that it marks the start of a new era in Nigerian football as the NFF continues to search for replacements for the technical crew that were dismissed after Ghana beat Nigeria to the World Cup ticket. It will be recalled that Nigeria and Ghana in a two-legged play-off finished 1-1 on aggregate, but Ghana got the ticket due to away goal rule after a 0-0 draw in Ghana and 1-1 at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
The Super Eagles are expected to play a string of friendly games as nations facing African opponents in the World Cup might want to play a friendly with Nigeria as part of preparations for the global showpiece. The Ecuadorian Football Federation has also confirmed that they are currently in talks with the Nigeria Football Federation for a friendly game between both nations.
