The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has once again extended the deadline for collection of Permanent Voters’ Cards by two weeks. INEC initially fixed March 8 as the deadline for collection of PVCs following the postponement of the elections in February. The new deadline for collection of PVCs is now March 22. The commission made this known in a press statement by Kayode Idowu, the Chief Press Secretary to INEC Chairman, Attahiru Jega. Over 78 per cent of the 68,833,476 voters who registered for the forthcoming elections have collected their cards. As at February 27, the commission said 54,377,747 cards had been distributed to voters, representing 78.93 percent collection rate. “INEC hereby calls on registered persons that are yet to collect their PVCs to use this last opportunity to do so, in order to participate in the forthcoming general elections,” the commission added in the statement.
