Everyone likes
healthy food (after all, everyone has to EAT!) and food is usually prepared in the kitchen. However, not everyone likes the kitchen especially after a kitchen accident. So here are a few tips to help you – just in case Mama isn’t home!
Air
1. Air helps fire to burn well, but in the kitchen it has to be controlled. That’s why the windows in the kitchen are not too big. Again it’s important that it’s properly ventilated. So you must create the balance.
2. Keep the Gas Burner lit at a moderate level, don’t be in a hurry to finish cooking the food!
3. Keep children away from the stuffy environment of the kitchen (they have no business there). Smoke can choke them.
Be ready
1. Gather all your supplies. You must have made up your mind on what you want to cook! Ensure that all that you need is available. Don’t leave water on fire to run to the nearby market to get Garri! Anything can happen.
2. Don’t cook in the middle of other activities that can take your attention. Do one thing at a time.
Take care of your cooking utensils
1. Wash/ Rinse ALL cooking utensils before using them. Don’t assume that because they have been washed, they have remained clean.
2.
Clean your stoves and oven properly too.
2. Hand gloves designed for cooking are advisable, that way you prevent cuts and burns. But where they are not available, improvise.
Discard all waste properly
1. After cooking, it’s important that all the waste you generated is thrown away properly. The method you use is dependent on what waste disposal method is available to you. Discarding your waste will help you stay healthy as rats, rodents and flies won’t be your guests. It also keeps the house from smelling.
2. Ensure that you also wash all used plates immediately. The longer the plates stay, the more difficult it is for you to wash. The wash sink stays happy when its empty!!!!
REMEMBER TO WASH YOUR HANDS BEFORE COOKING, AFTER COOKING, BEFORE MEALS AND AFTER MEALS!
