Former Super Eagles of Nigeria striker, Odion Ighalo, has ended speculations about his next move after joining Saudi Arabian league side, Al Shabab on Thursday, February 4, 2021. Ighalo who scored five times during his loan spell with English Premier League (EPL) giants, Manchester United, has found a new base in Asia after leaving Shanghai Shenhua of China for the Saudi outfits.

At the age of 31, Ighalo opted to secure a two-and-a-half-year deal with the Saudi side despite alleged offers from EPL clubs and the Major League Soccer (MLS). Currently, Al Shabab who are in the quest for their first Saudi Professional League title since the 2011/2012 season, are top of the league table which just passed the half of the season.

Ighalo is seen as a huge reinforcement to their squad as they look to dominate Saudi football. The Nigerian striker will link up with the likes of former Sevilla and Argentinean star, Ever Banega and former Real Betis and Wolves midfielder, Alfred N’Diaye in his new club to contest for titles. To bid his former Chinese employers goodbye, Ighalo on his Instagram page posted the words ‘’Thank you’’ in Chinese language and revealed in his next post that he is looking forward to the new chapter in his career.
