The former Super Eagles of Nigeria striker placed fifth in United’s goalscoring chart despite starting just five out of 19 games for Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s men, bagging a total of five goals. Ighalo boasts the same number of goals as his united teammate, Scott McTominay who featured 37 times in a season that saw United finish in third place. Ighalo who won the Golden Boot award for scoring the highest number of goals during the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations scored twice against Derby County, and one against Norwich City (in the FA Cup), and also scored twice in the Europa League against Club Brugge and LASK before United were knocked out by Sevilla in the semi-final.

French striker, Anthony Martial topped United’s goalscoring chart with a total of 23 goals in all competitions, followed by Marcus Rashford who garnered 22 goals, while teenage sensation Mason Greenwood finished third with 17 goals. Fellow January recruit, Bruno Fernandes, finished fourth with 12 goals out of 22 matches. Though Ighalo played second fiddle as Martial got the nod to start more games from Solksjaer, the Nigerian has never failed to prove his worth each time he is called up to play, with Solksjaer insisting that his experience and unique style of play is very much needed as the biggest English club aims to return to its glory days.
