ConnectNigeria_Brown Ideye Nigerian International, Brown Ideye’s proposed record transfer to English Premier League, West Bromwich Albion has been delayed over his visa and work permit. The striker, 25, made this public on Sunday, after the visa and work permit issue prevented him from linking with his new teammates who just returned from the pre-season tour to USA. Ideye was billed to make his debut in Baggies’ pre-season friendly against Championship side, Nottingham Forest on Sunday. He is almost certain to miss the friendly against Port Vale on Tuesday as well. He joined West Brom last month from Ukrainian side, Dynamo Kiev for a club record 10m pounds, signing a three-year contract with an option for a further year. Speaking to the BBC Sport website, Ideye said “Officials at the British High Commission (in Nigeria) are still working on it,” “The club has fulfilled all the necessary requirements, but I have been told that the British High Commission require up to 15 days to sort this, which is preventing my ability to travel.“ “The public holiday in Nigeria last week (Eid) slowed things down a little bit on this side. I hope to get it sorted in the next couple of days because I can’t wait to join my new team-mates in England.” The visa and work permit may be sorted out just in time for Ideye to feature in West Brom’s last pre-season friendly against Portuguese giants, FC Porto at the Hawthorns before the new season kicks off on August 16 against Sunderland. However, the striker was pessimistic about featuring in the Premier League opener. “I need to join the team first then train with the squad in front of the manager (Alan Irvine) and so far I have not been able to do that,” he said. Ideye has previously played for Ocean Boys, Sochaux and Neuchatel Xamax, and was left out of Keshi’s Super Eagles World Cup squad that reached the last 16.
