The grand finale of the 2019 edition of iCreate Regional Skill Competition was held on Thursday, December 5, 2019, at the Landmark Events Centre, Lagos State. Popular as Africa’s biggest skill competition, the two-day event (December 4-5, 2019), witnessed skilful exhibition at its peak. The event did not fall short of the organizers’ objective of rebranding and projecting the value of skills as well as preparing the next generation of skilled African youth for the future. Undoubtedly, the event was a unique platform for African youth to develop their interest in skill acquisition. Display of Skills at an Advanced Level

Without a doubt, the event presented a platform for the skilful Nigerian youth population to display their skills and crafts at an advanced level. The best of Nigerian skilled workers were not shy to go public with their excellent skills and equally develop their brands through training received at the iCreate regional skill competition.

Participants at the program were spotted communicating and networking with each other to share and improve their skills, and exchange ideas on new trends. The atmosphere created by the organizers at the iCreate event encouraged interaction, idea-sharing and collaborative learning.

Skills Challenge/Pitching Competitions

To improve value, there is need for competition and this was not missing at the event. Participants in different categories were pitched against each other to compete for prizes and medals that were presented during the dinner and award night. Some of the categories included:

  • Fashion
  • Automobile
  • Graphics Design
  • Web Design
  • Electrical
  • Shoe Making
  • Carpentry
  • Tiling
  • Barbing
  • Cooking

The skills challenge and competitions challenged the participants intellectually and advanced their creative ability.

Marketing Platform

Aside the fact that the iCreate Regional Skills was aimed at training and developing the African skilled youth population, it was equally an opportunity for participants to display their works and market their brands globally. Artistic paintings on walls and portrait drawings, likewise automobile and fashion products exhibition were available for guests at the event to purchase, and large scale investors willing to partner with artists looking for opportunities to promote their brands or works within and outside Nigeria.

Proof of Nigerian Youth Skillfulness

One of the things you cannot take away from a Nigerian youth is the ability to be creative which was proven at the event. Nigerian youth with a drive towards earning a living for themselves through self-thought projects formed up the majority of participants at the two-day affair. The confidence and boldness exhibited by young skilled Nigerians at the events gives hope that the future is bright for the most populous black nation on earth.

Dinner and Award Night

The event ended on the night of Thursday, December 5, 2019 as participants who emerged victorious in the skill challenge and pitching competitions were presented with their medals and prizes.
