Sunday Mba

Super Eagles star forward, Sunday Mba, who is at the centre of a transfer saga between two Nigerian clubs, Warri Wolves and Enugu Rangers, has expressed his displeasure over his inability to play competitive matches, several weeks after AFCON 2013. He has been training with Enugu Rangers, where he expects to play, but cannot, because a transfer fee has not been agreed upon between the club and Warri Wolves. The technical committee set up by the Nigeria Football Federation has said that Mba still has a contract with Wolves, and that a proper signing must be done if he would play for Rangers. Mba has been courted by European clubs, but any deal would have to wait until the fray between Wolves and Rangers comes to an end. Mba spoke with the BBC, complaining about the situation, saying, “It’s frustrating when you train hard but are then prevented from playing football. My career was given a big lift after the tournament in South Africa but everything looks dark at the moment. I wanted to continue my progress in the league and hopefully move to Europe when the right offer and club approach my team. “Sadly I’m at a crossroad and this is not my own doing, the exact reason it’s frustrating and depressing. I hope it can be concluded as soon as possible because I need to get my career going. I’m training with Enugu Rangers, they are making a strong effort to get it sorted but somehow it’s still not sorted. I want to play football, I want to live my dream and right now I’m losing out on that desire. “I can only appeal to those involved to consider my career and come to agreement because my development is suffering,” he concludes. Mba has however been included by coach Keshi in the Super Eagles squad for the series of matches lined up for Nigeria, between May and July, that includes the Confederations cup in Brazil and World Cup 2014 qualifiers.
