In first term in junior secondary school I liked a lady- my classmate and confided in my friend then, he took it upon himself to see that my dream came through; he went and called the lady for me to woo her. When she came I didn’t have anything to say to her, after all, my friend didn’t tell me how to do it. After a while, the lady hissed and left. My friend returned and said ‘you are a woman’. We went for a meeting somewhere years ago and everyone was ordering beers and I ordered a soft drink, my friends asked me why? ‘I don’t take alcohol’ I replied. They said, “you are a woman”.

I was in cab some days ago and a car in the front could not cope with the twists of our traffic system, our driver shouted: “who is that woman”. If you slap me and I didn’t slap back then “I am a woman”.  If others can carry 50kg weight and you cannot then “you are a woman”.
If you slap me and I didn’t slap back then “I am a woman”.  If others can carry 50kg weight and you cannot then “you are a woman”. Everything we understand as weakness has been attributed to womanhood. The society has helped encourage the feminine sex to achieve less and never to stretch.
Throughout my first year in secondary school, I came second while I had always been first in primary. My dad wasn’t so angry that I was second but that I allowed a lady to get ahead of me. If you are reading this and you are a female, refuse to accept less. Refuse to accept to be backwards. Success and excellence are not gender-biased. Only you can stop yourself. Womanhood is not synonymous with weakness. Weakness is often residing in the mind. Whatever our mind accepts becomes what you believe to be true. There is a need for a change of mindset of the society concerning the feminine gender but the change should start from the females. They need to produce such results that would help establish that a woman can be whatever a man had been and even exceed it. Instead of accepting that all that the woman may not be able to do is because she is weak, proclaim the things she can do and proclaim it’s because she is very strong.
Instead of accepting that all that the woman may not be able to do is because she is weak, proclaim the things she can do and proclaim it’s because she is very strong.
If you can cook excellently you are a woman… If you can speak fluently you are a woman… If you can organise things beautifully you are a woman. If you can be first in a class, you are a woman.
Strength is not only being physical.
You can head organisations as a woman despite the fact that many men are there. You can govern a state as a woman. You can be the president of a nation as a woman. You can be the world richest as a woman. That it has never been done doesn’t mean it cannot be done. When one person rises to the challenge, it becomes believable.
Adam called you woman because you were taken out (separated) from a man not because you are inferior. Women are different from men and should not try to do it the way men do it, rather they should maximize their strength so well and do things in their own way and style.
Moreover that you are made to SUBMIT to your husband doesn’t make you lesser. Submission letting another head your strength… It doesn’t mean you are less, inferior nor incapable.
Next time when you see a bad driver, don’t call him a woman. When you see a timid fellow, don’t call him a woman. If all the women you know are weak and incapable, it’s either you are reading this as a grandfather or you are blind because presently many women in the world are shaking places, breaking records and many others are also going to rise.
Womanhood has nothing to do with being incapable. Womanhood is a class, it’s a breed and it’s an attitude.
A woman needs no man by her side to be respected.
Grace.
