World’s largest PC maker, Hewlett-Packard (HP), is targeting increased device sales in Nigeria and all of Africa – with the introduction of a new product range. The HP Chief for Africa, Alaa Alshimy, gave this information as he spoke about the strengths of the organization and their services on cloud computing.
He said, “Globally, HP Company today is the No 1 IT player. We have the largest number of patents. Last year, we recorded $10 billion profits so we have more money to invest; we put $4 billion in R&D which is translating into success; we have the richest portfolio of products in networking, software, security, printers and so on. “We introduced the HP Envy, the world’s first display with integrated beat audio and the first touch notebook. In PC and notebook business we are No 1 worldwide and we are consolidating by producing more PCs, all these are competitive advantage.” On cloud computing he said, “HP realizes this new way of information very well, that is why there must be cloud. Cloud, big data and security are the big thing in the industry so HP provides the solution.” At the press event where he made this known, the Storage Division Manager for HP, Ashraf Helmy, further said about cloud computing; “The best solution for SMEs is the cloud because it will reduce the cost of power, infrastructure, and networking.
