How To Thank Your Customers For Their Patronage

A cheerful, thoughtful appreciation message could make your customers pleased with you, and may be a key part of your efforts to retain them.

Here are six ways you can thank your customers for doing business with you.

Send Them A Personal Message

You can do this for new and long-standing customers. In the former case, you could send them a follow up email or SMS after they’ve purchased your product or used your service. Thanking them after they’ve patronized you will keep you top of their minds, and make it more likely that they’ll buy stuff from you in the near future.

You may also show your appreciation to existing customers who frequently purchase products from you. Send them a personal message. If you can, make it a handwritten note. This will impress them, and make them feel valued by your business.

Give Them A Gift They’ll Like

If you understand your typical customer well enough, you’ll probably know what kinds of things they’ll like to be given as gifts. You may present such items to them in appreciation of their continuous patronage.

Your gift doesn’t have to be a box of things. It could be an experience. For example, you may give them tickets to their favourite cinema, or pay for their visit to a high-end restaurant. Whatever you settle for, be sure that it’s something that its recepients will appreciate.

Support Their Business Or Interests

If your clients own businesses, you can support their enterprise by buying their products or using their services. Most of them will be grateful for this. Such a move could strengthen your relationship with them.

You may even partner with then to promote their product (while they do the same for yours). This will likely generate great results for both parties if your products are complementary to theirs.

Organize A Customer Appreciation Week

Carve out some time from your business year to appreciate your customers. It’ll be a time (a day, a few days, or a whole work week) for you to reward them for buying your products and using your services.

It’s up to you (and your team) to decide the details that will constitute your customer appreciation week. Ideally, you’ll want your customers to have a say about what gifts you’ll give them. They can choose from a pool of options that you have preselected.

Offer Discounts

Some of your customers will be pleased if they are offered products at lower-than-regular prices. They will be impressed if you do this in recognition of their doing business with you. You may give them a discount if they purchase a certain number or quantity of your products, or if they have bought them from you a specific number of times.

Showcase Your Customers

When your customers leave glowing reviews of your business online, you can thank them for doing so by sharing those reviews. You may interview them, and share details of their own work along with their testimonial. This will work well if they’re using your product at their business.

You could also create a blog or video series that spotlights some of your customers, their interests or business, and their comments about your brand. This type of content will promote your customer’s work as well as yours.
