A vlog is a blog in video form. It involves an individual providing useful content to an audience through video. Like blogging, success in vlogging does not come all of a sudden but instead it requires dedication and strategic thinking. There are some peculiar factors that should not be overlooked when venturing into vlogging. These factors have the capacity to either break or make your vlogging career.

Factors To Be Considered Before Venturing Into Vlogging

Personality Type You Space Technical Know-How

Personality Type

When it comes to blogging, one sits with a computer and types in their research, opinions and knowledge about a particular subject. Vlogging, on the other hand, involves talking in front of a camera, making bodily gestures and even moving around in some cases. In other words, it requires the individual’s presence and not just words. These requirements do not suit all personality types. Some people are what we like to call “camera shy”. These people may have a hard time recording themselves on camera for the public to see. And if they eventually force it, things could turn out awkward and not as they imagined.  So is there no hope for the camera shy? If you know you really have something to say to a particular audience but you are camera shy, there’s always room for improvement. You can practice being more confident and charismatic until you are more at ease on camera. Remember, there’s no perfect vlogger; the key is having a personality and not being afraid to show it. One way you can stop being camera shy is by recording daily until you get better at it. You don’t have to upload the videos but just keep and monitor them for success. If you’re consistent with this, you’ll definitely see some improvement as time goes on.

Your Space

Most vloggers record from their bedrooms, but you might have a lounge or poolside that better reflects who you are.  Whatever you do, make sure you are recording from a tidy space but don’t overdo it so people don’t think you run a hospital. All people want to see is an original individual who wants to share his/her message and your space should reflect that too.

Technical Know-How

Before you jump right into vlogging, you must ask yourself if you are technically savvy. Starting a vlog does not mean that you must have a degree in photography and media but you need to know the basics like what angles to shoot from, and how to edit. Study the vlogs of some successful vloggers and see how they nail this. Consider things like music, thumbnail images, channel banner, titles and even technical gadgets that will give you the quality effect to desire. These are some of the factors that should be considered when starting a vlog. vlog Most of the topics that can be blogged about can also be vlogged about, however, some niches do better as vlogs. These topics are highly visual and they require a high level of engagement to grasp fully. They are:
  • Food Vlogs
  • Travel Vlogs
  • Personal Lifestyle Vlogs

Food Vlog

Food vlogs are highly visually stimulating. Vlogging about food ensures that viewers are taken through the journey (e.g, cooking process, use of kitchen utensils, new recipes, discovery of a new restaurant, and so on). Moreover, people watching a food vlog are most likely learning how to cook some particular dishes and so they’ll find it easier following visual cues than only reading from a manual. This doesn’t mean that you can’t run a food blog alone, but adding a vlog into the mix will definitely take customer engagement to a higher level.

Travel Vlogs

Travel is another niche that requires visual engagement. People want to see that beautiful destination you’ve talked or written about. Like food, you can also run a travel vlog and have a blog on the side.

Personal Lifestyle Vlogs

Personal Lvlogs are usually focused on family and relationship moments. They are somewhat like “mini reality TV shows”. Personal life vlogs rely solely on video because they are all about the moments so a blog on the side may not really be necessary. Adanna and Adams is a personal life vlog capturing the moments of a family and revolving round lifestyle.
