One thing you can always bet on for Christmas is that there will definitely be chicken to be eaten. But then,  it’s not all about eating chicken, it’s about cooking it the right way, so it doesn’t constitute a problem to our health afterwards. According to www.healthline.com, when poultry is cooked properly it’s safe, but if it’s undercooked or handled improperly while raw, it can lead to health issues. One of which is a case of Salmonella. Salmonella is a foodborne bacteria that is responsible for 1.2 million cases of illness and 450 deaths each year. It is largely found in raw poultry. It is advisable to :
  • Don’t always rely on how your chicken breast looks to determine if it’s ready. Pink meat doesn’t necessarily mean it’s undercooked. Similarly, white meat doesn’t necessarily mean all bacteria has been killed.
  • Wash surfaces that come into contact with raw chicken,
  • Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds after handling raw chicken and,
  • Wash utensils with hot soapy water after using them on raw meat.

Directions On How To Properly Oven Bake Your Chicken

Ingredients

8 boneless skinless chicken breast halves (about 2 lb) 1 tablespoon olive or vegetable oil 1 1/2 teaspoons parsley flakes 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon garlic pepper blend 1 teaspoon dried basil leaves

Directions

  • Heat oven to 400°F. Spray 13×9-inch (3-quart) glass baking dish with cooking spray. Brush both sides of chicken with oil. Sprinkle both sides with parsley, seasoned salt, garlic pepper and basil. Place in baking dish.
  • Bake uncovered 25 to 35 minutes or until the juice of chicken is no longer pink, and when centres of thickest pieces are cut.
  • Cool chicken 10 to 15 minutes. Cut into desired size pieces for any food recipes you chose for your main or side dishes.
