Being a fashion entrepreneur in Nigeria can be quite overwhelming. There are lots of existing fashion entrepreneurs, so you need to be aware of various methods of marketing. As a fashion entrepreneur, knowing your target market cannot be overemphasized. Your target market will help you choose the right marketing technique(s) you need. 1. Radio Marketing on radio is one of the olden-modern marketing techniques. It is a medium to create awareness for your business. With radio, you can reach a good number of potential customers. When advertising on radio, make sure the station and programme of your choice are in line with your target market. Men love news, youths love music shows, and so on.  The cost of advertising on radio stations depend on the radio station of your choice and the length of the advertisement, amongst other factors.  Remember, to be concise and detailed because your potential customers cannot see you or your product(s), they can only hear you. 2. Television Just like marketing through radio stations, televison is another way to market your business in Nigeria. In every ten homes, about five to seven own a television set. Many households rely on their television as a trusted means of getting information. For others, it is a source of entertainment. You can reach your potential customers through targeted TV commercials (TVC). It visually promotes your business in a way that radio can’t. In television advertisment, they can both see and hear you, so give it your best. 3. Social Media Social media has proven to be an effective marketing technique. It has seen a consistent rise in Nigeria over the years. You can reach hundreds and thousands of your potential customers on social media – facebook, whatsapp instagram, telegram, twitter, tiktok and snapchat.  It is however important to match your product or service with the appropriate medium. Some products are best advertised on Instagram, some facebook.  One of the greatest advantage of social media is that you can start at no cost and it allows creativity.

4. Word-Of-Mouth Word-of-mouth is a good marketing technique. It is physically telling people about your business and what you have to offer. It is a good way to build trust in your customers as they tend to have more confidence in you when they physically see you and interact with you.  Word-of-mouth marketing can also be done by family, friends and existing customers on your behalf.  One major disadvantage of this technique is the number of potential customers that can be reached.  5. Trusted distributor You can also advertise your fashion business by partnering with a trusted local distributor, who is an expert in selling the type of product you offer. It is called dropshipping. A dropshipper serves as a sales intermediary between the seller and the customers. Your dropshipper sells your products to your customers, most times, at your selling price. They add their profit and give you your money. It is important to search for trusted distributors or dropshippers as they can either make or mar your business. They are the face of your business. The markting techniques explained above are very efficient when properly used. Once you have built a solid foundation with any of these techniques, it will be easier to reach your potential customers. References Kpakpakpa Inc Featured image source: Ally marketing
