Hotels.ng, a startup and Nigeria’s biggest hotel booking service signed an MOU with the Akwa Ibom State government in a deal aimed at promoting local tech talent in the state.
Hotels.ng, a tech startup that organises bi-annual remote internship programmes for participants from across Nigeria will, starting from September 1, 2017, organise a special internship program for residents of Akwa Ibom. The internship program is designed for beginner software developers and UI/UX designerse on their skills. The interns will be given an opportunity to collaborate, innovate, solve real problems and receive stipends as they progress in the program.
According to Dr. Nse Udo Essien, the Honourable Commissioner for Science and Technology and State’s representative in the agreement, about 150 – 500 young men and women will be trained in this internship program that is designed to last for 3 months. He promised that the State’s Ibom e-library would be open to all the interns during the internship period.
Mark Essien, the company’s CEO described the internship program as “a great opportunity for participants to plug into the rising global trend of the remote working culture while learning valuable skills”. He announced that the program would commence on September 1, 2017 and that the online registration was to commence immediately on the website:
