The annual Hope 4 Girls basketball camp, which was founded by former Nigerian basketball player, Mobolaji Akiode, commenced its 6th edition yesterday, 5th August, 2015 at the Nigeria Institute for Sports Gymnasium inside the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
According to Vanguard Newspaper, the Athens Olympics 2004 star said the camp is geared towards giving the girl child a sense of belonging and an opportunity to express their talent as they forge ahead in the game of basketball.
This year’s camp will have the esteemed presence of Quint Clarke of the famous Blair Academy, USA.
Evelyn Akator, currently with the University of Kentucky and a beneficiary of the Hope 4 Girls camp will also be present.
Akiode, while looking forward to the camp has expressed her gratitude to the President of FIBA Africa Zone 3, Col. Sam Ahmedu (Rtd) and the General Manager of the Toronto Raptors Basketball Club in the NBA for their support in sustaining the camp over the years.
This year’s camp will also enjoy the support of Better Africa Foundation as well as the FCMB.
The Hope 4 Girls camp will end on August 8th at the national stadium.
