Have You Heard of Thando’s Foldable Ankara Ballerina Flats?

Hi Ladies! Have you ever gone for a party in uncomfortable heels and wished you had a pair of flats to change into? You would have packed a pair but they wouldn’t have fit in that lovely matching clutch bag. Well, a solution to our dilemma has finally arrived, courtesy of the innovative thinking of fellow Nigerian women.

We would like to introduce Africa’s first foldable ballerina flats, which come in different coloured Ankara print – red, yellow, brown, black and bronze. Staying true to their African roots, a map of our continent can be seen on the soles of the shoes. They also come in a nicely designed pouch.

The shoes are produced and distributed under the label, Thando’s shoes. Thando’s shoes provides a platform for African artists to design shoes for women that are comfortable, convenient and stylish, as stated on its official Facebook Page. It is owned by Nigerians, Taffi Ayodele (also kown as Taffi Woolward) and JG, who were notably finalists at the 2014 She Leads Africa Competition.

According to blogger, Tuke of Tuke’s Quest, popular African creatives provided the unique designs of these shoes:

1. The Brown “Fritzwa” Flat; designed by Ghanaian and Sierra Leonean musician, Fritzwa.

2. The Bronze “Fierce Walk”; designed by the former Miss Universe from Angola, Leila Lopes.

3. The Black Peep Toe “Class Act”; designed by South African actress, Zikhona Sodlaka.

4. The Red “Kach Me If You Can”; designed by Nigerian celebrity stylist, Kanayo Ebi.

The flats are available for purchase at the Grey Velvet stores in Lekki (Centro Mall) and Ikeja City Mall. You can also buy them online at Heels.com.ng and Fashpa.com.
