Google’s search results have gained some new feature that allows you to hail a Uber ride right from the search screen. The revamped search results now include information on available rides with fare estimates and pick up times. Clicking on the link will launch the Uber app so you can book your ride.
Google debuted the feature on Google maps earlier this year when the map got a dedicated tab for ride services, in addition to the existing car, transit, walking, and biking options.
You can use the feature by typing stuff like “Taxi to Ikeja Airport” or “Uber to Silverbird Galleria” in the Google search bar. The feature also works with Google Now voice searches on your mobile device. For instance, you can say “OK Google, cab to Maryland” and it’ll show you available Uber rides going to Maryland.
In case you do not have the Uber app installed, Google will redirect you to an app store where you can download it and install on your mobile device.
