In a statement issued to the staff of the bank, Agbaje explained that the institution was taking the health and safety of Nigerians seriously, as they were the primary population that it serves. He said that they were monitoring the coronavirus outbreak and working to ensure that their locations are safe for employees and customers alike.
He said that the intensive care unit would be ready by the end of the week.

Agabaje encouraged members of the public to adhere to the safety guidelines issued by health care professionals and government. He also said they could use digital platforms to conduct their banking transaction so that they could reduce their need to visit the bank’s physical branches.
Lagos currently has a 100-bed Infectious Disease Facility, built to house coronavirus patients.
GT Bank had earlier announced that it would not be charging its customers any fees on electronic transfers of up to ₦5,000. It said the move was aimed at encouraging people to go cashless, as the government’s restrictions on human movement are expanded.
Other leading banks and commercial concerns have also announced contributions to the ongoing battle against the novel coronavirus. Sterling Bank says it is collaborating with Tremendoc, a Nigerian healthcare startup, to provide telemedicine to people who may need it. At the time of this report, Nigeria has a total of 46 confirmed cases of COVID-19 infection. Of these, two have been discharged, and one has died. The Nigerian Center for Disease Control (NCDC) continues to brief Nigerians about the progress of their testing for the virus daily.
