The World Cup finals seems like it is here already. After all, the teams that qualified for the tournament knew about their various match-ups just last weekend.
Different permutations have started hitting headlines, with teams like England looking like they might just have another disastrous outing in the most prestigious soccer tournament in the world. Ghana has already been written off by pundits based on its qualification chances. Meanwhile, the Super Eagles were given a more lenient group involving Iran, Bosnia and Argentina.
Reactions have poured in from all quarters as regards the groupings and the general thought of pundits is that the Eagles are sure to qualify from this group without hiccups. But knowing what the World Cup stands for, it is not out of place to say that this is a tricky group and the Eagles will really have to dig deep to emerge from the group that has former world champions, Argentina.
For me, this World Cup is a chance for Coach Stephen Keshi to prove to the world that he is capable at the global stage, and this group just made his job slightly easier in that regard. The group will give the team the chance to impose themselves in the World Cup and prepare for the business area of the tournament.
