Lagos State has taken a giant leap into the future and is being set up to become the most prominent city in the African continent, and indeed the world at large.

This new development is thanks to the bold partnership of Rendeavour, Africa’s largest urban developer, and the Lagos State government, which has led to the inauguration of a 1000-hectare modern satellite city, in the Lekki free zone.

Alárò City

The revolutionary megacity named, Alárò City, is located in the North West Quadrant of the Lekki Free Zone in Epe, Lagos. With construction already underway, the project is expected to redefine the global conversation around the state, and Nigeria as a whole.

This city-scale development perfectly designed and mapped-out by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP (SOM), the architectural firm behind Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, will include the construction of three residential enclaves, schools, healthcare facilities, hotels, office areas, logistics and warehousing, and about 150 hectares of parkland.

Amid its many perks, Alárò City lies adjacent to the proposed international airport, and the largest Deep Sea Port in Africa, which is still in the works.

At the event which symbolized the beginning of the project, a good number of Lagos elites were present to share their thoughts and engage in the conversation to bring Lagos to the fore of the world’s investment space.

In his speech, the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, described the launch of the Alárò City project as a major landmark in his administration.

“Today’s event is a demonstration of the confidence the Organised Private Sector and foreign investors have in our government, and the viability of doing business in Lagos. The Alárò city is a strong statement that our Lagos is still attractive and is attracting more foreign investment.

“The project will not only open up this corridor, but will transform its economic landscape by providing jobs, reducing poverty and contributing significantly to the socio-economic development of our state especially in terms of the GDP of the state in particular and the country in general.”

In order to prevent future traffic impasses within the corridor, Gov. Ambode said, the state had commenced plans to construct the 7th Axial Road from the Lekki Deep Sea Port, en-route the Lekki Free Zone to the Shagamu-Benin Expressway, and the construction of a 50-hectare truck park within the region.

Stephen Jennings, founder and CEO of Rendeavour, commended the administration of Gov. Ambode for its commitment to the infrastructural development of Lagos State, while also restating Rendeavour’s continued support to the modern transformation of the state and Nigeria in general.
