The Super Eagles Team B put up a good fight, but were outmatched by recently crowned Europa Champions, Atletico Madrid, 3-2 in the GOtv Max Cup at the Godwill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom Stadium on Tuesday.

What a match!

In a rather amusing turn of events, the Super Eagles started onslaught on the visitors with Arsenal player, Kelechi Nwakali, putting in the first goal of the match up as he shot past Jan Oblak in the 32nd minute.

Within one minute of the goal, Atletico Madrid responded with an equalizer via Correa.

The following minutes saw the Eagles miss out on clear-cut chances.

Through to the second half, Atletico made a few player changes including bringing in Fernando Torres. The La Liga side began throbbing the Nigerian side of the pitch even more, in the 55th minute, Gameiro went closer only to have his efforts foiled by Thomas.

However in the 64th minute, Torres made good on a cross effort, nodding in Atletico’s second goal.

The Super Eagles who would not go down without putting up more fight, equalized via Usman Mohammed, with 10 minutes left on the clock.

In the 85th minute however, Borja Garces put Atletico back into lead to bring the closing scores to 3-2.
